Timing is Everything

The Daughter watched Tarzan (the Disney version) on TV last night, which put me in mind of when The Wife and I went to see the same film in its initial theatrical release. It was about four weeks after The Daughter had been born, and we left her with her grandmother for the afternoon while we went out. It was the first time both of us had been away from her, and we were understandably nervous. Nevertheless we went to the theater, bought our tickets and our popcorn and our six-buck, fifty-five ounce Pepsis, and went into the theater. We missed the first thirty seconds or so of the film, but we arrived just in time, as brand new parents out without the kid for the first time, to see one baby's parents (the humans) die horribly and see another set of parents' baby (the gorillas) die horribly. Yeah, that was just what the doctor ordered.

Anyhoo....
