SpaceShipOne, after winning the X-Prize by flying today.
This whole thing has been unbelievably thrilling, and I'm hopeful that spaceflight isn't some dead dream of the "We went to the Moon, what more do you want?" variety.
(Last week, however, Warren Ellis lamented a kind-of "lowering of the space-flight bar", and in a way, I agree with him. Sometimes, our progress in space feels to me as if Cro-Magnon Man invented a bicycle, and then scrapped it in favor of developing the wheel again.)
