Manning the Helm

I watched a little bit of Eli Manning's debut with the New York Giants earlier this afternoon, and while I make no secret that Manning left me cold with his draft-time tantrum when it turned out that the team likely to pick him at Number One, the San Diego Chargers, weren't the team he wanted to play for, what's on my mind right now is this: are the Giants receivers that bad? In just the small portion of the first quarter of this game that I watched, I counted four passes that Manning put right where the receivers needed them to be, and yet, they either allowed the passes to go through their hands or to clang off their chests. Any Giants fans out there? Is the receiving corps down there that bad?
