There are some things I can't forgive Sagan for. He introduced me to the godawful Drake equation. He thought that beings capable of interstellar travel must be benign, and (I guess related) that sending out "Yoohoo we're here!" messages was a great idea.
If he did indeed make astronomy and science in general more accessible, maybe those quibbles can be forgiven.
