Adele: what is her deal? (No, seriously -- what's her thing? I was vaguely aware of the existence of a person named 'Adele' before this past weekend, but now I'm seeing her mentioned and linked everywhere. Is there something I'm missing out on in my ignorance? Edumucate me, folks!)

Anderson Cooper had a great interview with her on last week's 60 Minutes. She came off as very down to earth and real. I downloaded her Albert Hall concert which is truly magnificent. She is the real deal.
Yeah, you're a bit behind the surge on this one. Adele's released two albums, won the Grammy for best new artist in 2009, and won for album of the year this year. So, yeah, her career's pretty much over now. I suspect you'll never hear her name again.
She swept the Grammys. She's really quite good and not at all one of the cookie cutter singers that are out there. Check her out.
She's the reason I couldn't get a turkey sandwich one day last summer. She was performing here at my work place and the entire property was thronging with fans, making it too busy for me to order my damn turkey sandwich.
And for that, I can't forgive.
Thanks, everyone. I was intrigued...until I read how Adele thwarted Kerry's need for a turkey sandwich. No Adele for me, then!
OK i will ask you to change your mind, here is Adele in Texas on NPR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfzpYcwiUrA&feature=relmfu a Tiny Desk Concert.
One of the only artists that I wasn't listening to in the 20th Century who I've purchased. 19 is good, 21 is great.
She also has taken heat from idiots like Karl Lagerfeld about her size, which makes her more sympathetic.
