Gotcha, Captcha!
Hey, Blogger-commenters: is it just me, or have the captcha's on Blogger's commenting system been pronounceable of late, if not actually sounding like they may be real words? I wonder why that might be.
A while back some folks were using the comment verification as source for something sort of like Balderdash.
1) Click the comment box. 2) Look at the Word verification. 3) Make up the "word's" meaning. 4) Apply definition and use in complete sentence.
These were my contributions:
Tiferc
n. the light membrane lining inside the bones of birds.
The reason birds can fly is because their skeletons consists of very lightweight bones. They have large air-filled cavities lined with a light membrane tissue called tiferc which connects with the respriatory system.
ender
n. the trapdoor used in magic shows to provide the illusion of a person disappearing.
A favorite highlight of each night's show was when the magician's beautiful assistant would disappear in a poof of smoke. Try as they might to figure out how the illusion was accomplished, the ender that made it possible was so cleverly hidden that the trick really did look like magic.
and a couple from other posters:
dlhoh --the official name for a donut hole.
Tom went to the Bakery to buy a box of pastries to share for breakfast. Noticing that the Cream Filled Danishes cost more money than he had, the baker offered to sell him a box of dlhohs for 1/4 of the price.
SYUGXM
syug-zum V. Emitted sound when pancake comes in contact with kitchen floor.
Last week, I heard Paula shouting in the kitchen directly after the familiar syugxm resounded yet again.

Wanna play?
Absitively. the one today is tediker, which does contain elements of real words (ted, dike).
I've noticed that. Very cool!
So did Ken Levine, and he has a definition contest! http://kenlevine.blogspot.com/2008/12/daffy-definition-kontest.html
Today's word: dishollo
Just posted elsewhere; the word was baste. A REAL word.
