I'm reading Eric Alterman's recent book, What Liberal Media? right now. I don't have much to say about it, except to note that it's an excellent rebuttal to the whole "The liberals control the media" meme that dominates conservative discourse. Other commentators, some of whom are on my blogroll, have said a lot more on the subject. I do note that, when a conservative complains that liberals have taken over the college campuses (a charge I don't readily accept, but it's another common one), a useful reply seems to be "Yeah, well, you guys got the media. Wanna trade?"
Oh, and Alterman's book -- as an object produced by a publisher -- is a ghastly production. I don't recall ever seeing this many typos before. Was the copy editor drunk or something?
