You know, it's not a hard job to do. A new plug will run you about $4 at Home Depot (or around $15 if you want the "professional" one). Replacing a plug on a wire takes about fifteen minutes, and the only tools you really need are a screwdriver and a sharp-bladed knife.
I can't believe someone did this.

Oh that must just be the worst nightmare for a technician like yourself. This person reminds me of a kid I once taught who was determined to find out what happened when he put a copper wire into the outlets on the individual science labs - just what I told him would happen except for the fact that he made the lights and himself blink off and on. Then he filled his diaper...literally.
What could possibly go wrong?
Rube Goldberg would be proud.
