Something for Thursday
It's April Fool's Day, so here's one of the more good-humored pieces of music I know: Leonard Bernstein's Overture to Candide, conducted by Bernstein himself.
I don't really have any April Fool's stuff going on, but by all means, make it a day of silliness! Silly is good. I like the silly.

Know what's driving me crazy? The theme at 3:25, which was used for some TV show, but I can't remember which one!
Ah, yes. The Overture to Candide. One of my favorite Bernstein tunes ever. I'm still grateful to the college World Lit teacher who introduced me to this musical to begin with.
As for the tune Roger Owen Green mentions, it's "Glitter and Be Gay" and Dick Cavett used to use part of it for his show's intro when it aired on PBS a few decades ago. I remember the first time I heard that song, I had a similar thought: "I've heard this somewhere else before, haven't I?" But then you can say the same thing about a lot of classical pieces.
