Something for Thursday

Here's Adele, singing the title song for Skyfall. What do you think? I like it a little more each time I hear it, and I liked it a lot at first. It stands in the fine tradition of sultry Bond songs, with its slow, torchsong melody sung by a big-voiced woman, and I like how it incorporates the James Bond Theme and manages to get the film's title into the lyrics (in typically not-entirely-making-sense Bond song fashion).

Opine, folks!

I was one of the first to get on the Adele bandwagon, but then got saturated really fast. When I heard she was singing the theme song for Skyfall my first reaction was: "Come on! Adele? Really?"

But then I heard it and it all made sense. She is a more appropriate choice than some of the other artists that have done Bond theme songs in recent years. It's a great song and a welcome return for the Bond theme song. I don't think the last two had theme songs.

It's competent. You know it's a Bond theme from the musical swipes, she sings it well. And now that she's happy, Adele is probably bereft of things to write about...
