We expect our legal system to produce moral consequences, and yet, so often it does not. It’s probably the case that a codified legal system can’t be expected to always produce moral consequences, precisely because what’s moral cannot be so precisely codified. But this does not excuse a lack of efforts to try to make it better, and it certainly does not lessen the pain that arises when the moral and the legal so spectacularly fail to intersect.

Insinuating we can just sick the DOJ those we deem to be immoral though found to be innocent by codified law is imoral in itself.
Immoral and frightening
Nobody is 'siccing' the DOJ on anyone. The DOJ is undertaking a standard investigation to see if a case can or should be made on the basis of civil rights violations. That's a completely different set of legal issues. Ditto the civil law suits which I am sure are on the way.
Zimmerman was acquitted of the specific set of charges brought against him by the State of Florida. That doesn't mean that there aren't other legal issues to be pursued. This is how it works.
