A Random Wednesday Conversation Starter

So a coworker showed me a photo he took of a bumper sticker he saw on another vehicle. The sticker read: "My autistic student ignored your Honor student." Neither of us could figure out what the heck that means.

Anybody got any idea what that sticker is saying? Is it something good about autistic students, something bad about Honor students, neutral on either, what?

I have no idea. Found this, which is not as edifying as I had hoped. But my takeaway is that the honor student had belittled the autistic student, and now the autistic kid rules, so sod off, honors student.

I'd say it's neutral to leaning positive toward the autistic student. The neutral reading is a simple statement of fact, since the autistic student would likely ignore the honor student, because that's what autistic people do when they are not interested in other people.

The other reading I lean toward is a snark against parents bragging about their kids. "Yes, your kid is an honor student, but your kid isn't interesting enough to get attention unless you're bragging."

Or: "All your kid's hard work isn't enough to gain everyone's admiration, and never will be, so shut up already." (Alt text for 'so shut up already' would be 'neener, neener!')

I'm sure there are other possibilities. These are how I read it.

Eh, it's still better than the one I saw:

"My kid beat up your honor student."

Ugh, ugh, ugh.
