Historically, no. But it could have been those 7 or 8 pre-wrapped, gummy yet dried out examples, and not the wide array of WONDERFUL fruitcake that I've been told exists, SOMEWHERE else.
As I said on Facebook, I love fruitcake but to get a good one you have to make your own. Or have your mom or your aunt or someone make it for you. Use dried fruit instead of candied and don't over-bake it.

No. My Grandmother, may her Memory be Eternal, made one each year. I appreciated the thought, but not the taste.
I like the German variety (stollen), preferably made by me. But the stuff they sell in the tins at the market, nooooooo.
