A Random Wednesday Conversation Starter

A friend asked this on Facebook the other day and she got a lot of replies, so here's a penetrating question that reveals a surprising amount about your character and worth as a human being:

When you brush your teeth, do you use hot or cold water?

Coldish, because I wouldn't want to spend the money.

Cold, usually, but sometimes I brush my teeth while waiting for the water to get hot, which makes is cold-tepid-warm-hot.

Considering that the answer "reveals a surprising amount about your character and worth as a human being" I'm sort of afraid to answer but here goes. I used to always use cold but then my dentist suggested using hot water because it softens the bristles of the toothbrush so I tired that but sometimes I just don't want to wait for the water to get hot.

Now can someone tell me how that reveals anything about me other than I don't like waiting?

Cold! Maybe because I grew up in Florida and swishing with hot water sounds gross.

Here is my question - do you put your toothpaste directly on the brush before putting it in your mouth or do you just squirt some toothpaste in your mouth and then brush it around? Robert Redford did the latter in some movie I saw many years ago... I thought it was odd. But then it occurred to me that what seems "normal" to me could be very different from what others do.

I use cold water, and because I grew up in a household where we weren't "made of money," I dampen the brush then turn the water off until it's time to rinse.

I've also been told by some people that it's "better" to put the toothpaste on the DRY brush, and brush with the bristles dry. But that sets off all my sensory issues like nails on a chalkboard and I can't do that. Even if it is "better."
