A Nomination for the Role of Twelfth Doctor.

As soon as I heard the news that Matt Smith is stepping down as The Doctor (on Doctor Who, you buncha non-geeks), I, like everyone else, started thinking about who should be the next Doctor. My first thought was Chiwetel Ejiofor, best known as Peter in Love Actually and the Operative in Serenity.

But I have now changed my mind, because it occurs to me that the Doctor is always shown as a fairly tall fellow.

And to that, I say, bollocks.

Is there a height requirement to being a Timelord that I don't know about? Because if not...it's time for a short Doctor!

Really short!

So, for the role of the Twelfth Doctor, I hereby nominate:

Warwick Davis!

And you know what? I am pretty damned serious, the more I think about it.

Funny to read this. Not ten minutes ago I was contemplating a Facebook status update nominating Danny Devito as the next Doctor.

Well, it would certainly be an interesting choice. I would still watch. I like Mr. Davis.

Husband was all excited to tell me that Bleeding Cool says they have found out who the3 next Doctor is.

Which led me to say "I don't care. They said that last time and they were sooooo not even close. Didn't want to listen then because I knew they were full of bullocks, just as they are now."

"But... but... let me read it to you! They say they have source at the BBC."

"Not listening."

"But... but..."

"Don't care. I tell you Bleeding Cool is crap all the time and you keep reading. Stop rading it."

He's already been a guest on the show twice and he was an ewok in Return of the Jedi. All he has to do is get himself cast in the next Star Trek movie and he'll have a sci-fi hat trick!

I'd love Idris Elba as the Doctor. And Sylvester McCoy for one wasn't all that tall, so there goes the tall rule. But theyÄd have some explaining to do as to how Emperor Porridge ended up as the Doctor :D

Maybe it should be a woman.

I have hope that they will come out with a really cool choice for the next Doctor but I think they will go with what they have been doing. Don't fix what isn't broken will be their thinking. A woman would be cool. I would like more of an action figure Doctor.

Hmmmm... interesting choices.

I started with the 9th Doctor, really liked him but quickly got used to the 10th Doctor, David Tennant, haven't watched Matt Smith much and, to be honest, really don't care for him. Maybe that's just me being an old fart who hates change but I could go for a really cool Doctor.

How about Michael McKeon? His amp went up to 11, but he could be 12.
