A Random Wednesday Conversation Starter

Everybody has done the 'fitness' thing at one point or other. What's an exercise regimen, diet, or activity that you tried, thinking you'd like it, only to discover that you...didn't?

  1. The only thing I tried was jogging, and I hated it! Weird, too, because in high school I ran GAA track.

    Also, I can't say I didn't like Tai Chi (in my 30s), but it was a lot harder than I bargained for! I wouldn't mind taking it again, actually.

  2. I hated Atkins, but loved South Beach. That worked so well that I got this idea in my head that I could always do it again, and now I need to...again.

  3. Back in the 80's we bought a "stair climber" machine. I thought it was something I could do while I was watching TV but it was so noisy I couldn't hear anything so it didn't get used very much. It sat in the living room for a number of years and when we moved we threw it out.

  4. Anything that involves counting calories and measuring food. I just bristle.

  5. What Roger said. Having to count calories turns me into a mean grump. And I don't think it's just because I'm hungry.

    I also kind of hated in-person aerobics classes. I'm okay with aerobics as a concept, it's just the inane chatter that 85% of the instructors feel the need to keep up makes my skin crawl.
