  1. I remember the first time I saw the Bing/Bowie thing and thought it was a hoax. In the early Age of Video such a thing was possible but every holiday season I see it and I love it all the more. I have always been a fan of weird mixes of artists - Aerosmith/Run DMC, Tammy Wynette/KLF

Merry Christmas to you too buddy.

  2. I saw the Bing/Bowie thing on that year's Bing Christmas special, Nov. 30, 1977: Bing Crosby's Merrie Olde Christmas (CBS) COLOR
Guests: David Bowie, Twiggy, Ron Moody, Stanley Baxter, Trinity Boys Choir, the Crosby family.
Oddly, it aired after Bing had died on October 14.

Hey, did you see the Bowie/Bing parody?

Finally, I OWN that Julie Andrews LP! MY FAVORITE. It was available from Firestone tire dealers in 1966. The best song is called The Bells of Christmas. I've heard it on subsequent albums, which adds an unnecessary minute-long instrumental bridge; not the same at ALL.

MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours.
