I really have to wonder if it's coincidence that Funky Winkerbean and For Better or For Worse are each apparently about to shuffle their respective near-death characters off this mortal coil? Read both of today's installments, with pithy gallows-humor comment, here.
UPDATE: I should note that I've found the Winkerbean storyline very deftly handled and very touching. I don't really have much more to say about it than that.

Kelly, I know you're not a fan of FBOFW, and I admit that it's been dreck the past couple of years too, but I think that Johnston will do a creditable job with this.
ReplyDeleteAs for Funky, reading the story arcs, as I just did, really broke my heart. I never found Batiuk funny when he was trying to be funny, but his writing and art has been so touching and tender over this arc that I regret having not seen it.
It's very unique the way they're handling it on Funky...very gentle.
