Lynn Sislo reminds us that today, July 14, is Bastille Day in France, which is their equivalent of July 4 for us. Lynn also thanks France for its contribution to classical music, listing six notable French composers -- with one stunning omission. Regular readers of this blog will already know which one she leaves off. Harumph!
(By the way, one of my favorite historical anecdotes is that King Louis XVI's diary entry for Bastille Day reads "Nothing". You begin to see how he ended being on the unlucky side of the guillotine blade.)
