Here's something I've been wondering for a while: in spam e-mails, what is the purpose of that string of seemingly-random letters and numbers that sometimes follows the subject header? I'll get spam with subjects like this: "HOT BABES HERE! FUR73PPD889". What's with that stuff at the end? Is it noise generated by the spammers' automailing programs, or is it some kind of attempt to get through a spam-blocker, or what?
