In sad news for the film music world (a small world, to be sure, but a passionate one), English composer Ron Goodwin has died. He was particularly famous for his scores to war-related films, such as Where Eagles Dare and The Battle of Britain. Many of the finest film composers hailed from England, and Goodwin was a particularly fine one.
