Something for Thursday

We're on the eve of the Winter Olympics, one of my favorite things in the world (the Salt Lake City Games were in progress when I launched this blog, way back when), so here's a bit of Olympic history: Brian Boitano's gold-medal winning free skate in Calgary in 1988.

No, he wasn't. But six years later, Elvis Stojko sure as hell was. Alexei Urmanov? Huh?!

Elvis lost because his more - for lack of a better word, macho skating just wasn't in style. I thought he was robbed, too.

(And I can't believe I'm writing about ice skating, which I never would be watching save for significant others.)
