Lemon paczki!

I usually indulge myself once a week by allowing the consumption of donuts (never more than two). This week, in honor of Mardi Gras, the donut of choice was the Polish delicacy paczki. I rarely like filled donuts, but I make an exception for these. Lemon filling, yum!!!

The rest of the day I gnawed on a head of lettuce. (No, not really. Too many carbs today, to be quite honest....)

Mmmmm... donuts. Fortunately there isn't a good donut shop anywhere near us.

I grew up in NE Ohio, one of the "homes of the paczki" in the US.

I haven't seen one for YEARS. They were one of the things I just took for granted, like that there was a radio station that played Polka music and broadcast in Slavic for part of the day.

I had to make do with making pancakes for dinner instead (well, I am more Anglo-Scots in my background, so pancake day would be fitting)
