Gift cards! Like 'em? Hate 'em? Like getting 'em but feel a bit weird giving 'em, like you're basically throwing in the towel on trying to do creative shopping and taking the easy path of least resistance? Think they're awesome and you love giving 'em?

I would rather give and receive actual gifts but I do not hate gift cards. I mean... I sort of dislike them but I don't think they're a sign of imminent apocalypse or anything like that.

I don't like giving them and I don't like getting them. I don't think getting/giving a present at Christmas is about the gift, but about the thought that goes into taking the time to pick something out just for that person. I'd rather receive nothing than get a gift card; I don't like getting any gift that feels obligatory, and that's how gift cards feel to me. But then, I might be a bit old-fashioned about the whole gift thing anyway.

I hate giving gift cards, but gave four (2 sisters, 2 nieces) this year. If nothing else, the shipping is easy.

I don't mind getting them, as long as it's some place I actually shop (Amazon, yes; Target, yes; Wal-Mart, no). We got Wal-Mart cards for our wedding. HAD to use them, because NOT using them would be just lining Wal-Mart's pockets even more. Hated spending the $2.16 that I needed to spend out of pocket, though.
