A Random Wednesday Conversation Starter

I have a sneaking feeling that I've asked this one before, but...remember that episode of Seinfeld, when Elaine is dating that guy who goes off into a trance whenever he hears the song "Desperado" by the Eagles? Or that episode of South Park when it's revealed that Cartman must sing "Come Sail Away" by Styx all the way through if he hears even the tiniest part of it? What song or songs have a similar effect on you?

TOO many to mention. If I know the lyrics... I was at a meeting last week, and every phrase others said generated a song in my mind. Beatles, Stones, Motown...

One time last summer I had Kayleigh, by Marillion stuck in my head as an earworm - for three weeks! Sometimes, when I'm having trouble sleeping, I sing to myself (under my breath so as not to wake the wife). So far, the most successful songs helping me fall asleep are Wasted Time, by The Eagles, Thunder Road, by Bruce Springsteen, For Crying Out Loud, by MeatLoaf, and... Desperado. I don't know why.

Just because it's fun, "That's Not My Name" by The Ting Tings is a song that I'll stop everything to listen to and kick myself for not coming in on the beginning.

But the song that immediately sends me into trance/singing state is U2's "Running to Stand Still."

"Beautiful Day" by U2. It's all wrapped together with my love of the band, an actual beautiful day in western NY and my mom's final days.
