Your Daily Dose of Christmas

Well, I spend much of this blog airing my grievances, so on to the Feats of Strength!

Sire,

Do you find Michael Richard's actions forgivable?

Thus far, yes. So far as I know, it was a one-time incident that happened several years ago, and he was contrite almost immediately. I suspect he was trying to deal humorously with a couple of hecklers and clearly used wildly inappropriate humor. It was certainly shocking when it happened, but I don't think it should be a permanent blemish on his record as a human being.

The N word is what it is and I think makes any decent person cringe. BUT I cringe even more now that the popular media has become seemingly more tolerant of thieves (especially in white collars) than they are of racial remarks.

Former NBA player Jason Williams even tried to use the N-word as a defense to get off the hook for shooting a guy.

Mark Fuhrman ended up with a stronger sentence in the OJ trial than the Juice himself for using it and then lying about it, but even if he had told the truth, the N-word would have probably led to Simpsons exoneration.

Simpson got off, in no small part, because he had better lawyers.

I'd long forgiven Michael Richards myself.

WV: yamboat - pretty obvious, really: where you display your Xmas yams (or Christmas sweet potatoes - it's very versatile.
